The role of Project Architect:

Our small but growing team is looking to hire a Project Architect that has a hunger for growth and desire to buck the status quo. Our company has big growth goals, and our team has an environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and creative design.

This role will be at the helm of a variety of projects and will need you to be a thoughtful and communicative leader. In your daily work you might find yourself coordinating with stakeholders, brushing up on your code knowledge, producing Revit documents, attending a site meeting, or mentoring internal staff.

On any given day, you'll:

  • Produce, manage, and coordinate design and construction documents using Revit for projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Establish an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and design creativity.
  • Oversee the technical production of project work, assuring that the work is on schedule, profitable, and conforms with Ayres' quality standards and client contracts.
  • Analyze building codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
  • Participate in project presentations and multi-discipline work sessions.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships with clients, consultants, coworkers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Assist PMs with project billing, resource management, and project planning.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship of internal staff.
  • Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors, and client during all phases of project delivery.
  • Attend construction site meetings.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science (with Major in Architecture), Bachelor of Architecture, or Master of Architecture, from NAAB accredited university.
  • 6+ years' architectural project experience with at least 1 of those years as a licensed architect, leading projects.
  • Registration as a Wisconsin registered architect in good standing, or NCARB certified Architect.
  • Proficiency in Revit, knowledge of ICC codes, experience in construction observation, consultant coordination, and regulatory agency coordination.
  • Standard technical knowledge needed for construction documentation in a variety of construction methods, material types, and project types.
  • A willingness to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.

  • Ability to think outside the box to generate creative ideas and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Experience in architectural marketing and business development.
  • Active participation and leadership in civic and/or professional organizations.
  • Ability to foster an inclusive environment that lends itself to staff development/mentorship, allowing staff to feel competent, supported, and driven toward career development.
  • LEED accreditation.
  • Strong portfolio of work, including award-winning projects where candidate had design responsibility.
  • Experience in successfully publishing and/or publicly presenting work.
  • Experience and ability to produce presentation documents/images using rendering software.
