Job Description Job Description SUMMARY:

The Project Accounting Manager will play a key role in the Finance Department to help drive process improvements within the billing team (billing system, project level detail, streamlined processing, etc.), own the end-to-end billing process, business support model, systematic solution and oversee the company s ERP implementation. Formalization of the project accounting function is an area of focus for our company and this role will materially contribute in shaping this function. The Project Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate billing according to the client contract that includes various types of invoicing. The manager will need to balance activities and responsibilities with improving processes, challenging the status quo, and finding ways to impact the bottom line. The Project Accounting Manager will focus on team goals, process improvement and improving the workflow model in the billing and project financial management model.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Project/customer setup function. Project invoicing and accounts receivable processing, collection/dunning customers. Work with operations coordinators to improve the company collection practices minimizing past due accounts receivables.
  • Accounting Operations Support: Facilities communication and standardization between accounting operations and client s teams, between account operations teams, and within and across other areas in the Company
  • General accounting: processing ACH/wires, journal entries, balance sheet account/detail analysis (unbilled), participate in the weekly cash forecasting process
  • Project level P&L reviews are essential to identify ways of improving profitability on a timely basis
  • Understand operations contracts to ensure operations are within the bounds of the terms of the contract
  • Month End Close: Ensuring internal deadlines are met, driving internal controls; ensuring accurate billing is in line with our contractual terms, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
  • Participate in the Financial Planning cycle.
  • Understand company workflows and processes in order to take a key role in implementing a new ERP system for the company, which entails the following stages:
  1. Business requirement analysis and ensuring ERP configuration meets business requirements.
  2. Implementing improved workflows, processes and procedures. Leverage the simplicity/efficiency of the ERP so we are able to migrate more of the project setup/billing from central finance to the operations coordinators.
  3. Testing
  4. End user training
  5. Data conversion
  6. Go live
  • Performs other duties as assigned to by management

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly supervises 1-3 employees within the Finance and Accounting department(s).
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Accounting degree
  • Project Accounting experience
  • In depth experience in transaction processing: billing, collections, A/P, working with customers and vendors
  • Project management
  • Book close experience
  • FP&A experience
