Welcome to the dynamic and challenging role of Program Manager. You will be a critical member of the APIX Team within the AR display team. The team you are joining is responsible for designing and building advanced concepts and prototypes of head-mounted displays. As the Planner and Program Manager, you will assess the incoming requests, triage, plan the workflow, and manage the projects from beginning to end. Responsibilities:
  • Put in place an intake process for new requests using a trackable system.
  • Work with the department manager and the requestors to determine and align on prioritization.
  • Put a robust planning process in place for organizing workflow that includes detailed planning for every phase: a) design, b) generating specs documents/drawings, c) ordering off-the-shelf materials, and d) internal or external build.
  • Manage the execution of the plans through assigning tasks, tracking, communicating, and reporting to management the progress.
  • Lead the effort in organizing and managing the 'systems' for part and project tracking.
  • Coordinate all Project timelines.
  • Coordinate outsourcing of parts and services for builds when necessary.
  • Recommend processes to improve the quality of work and efficiency.
  • Manage deadlines with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Utilize your understanding of the production, prototyping, and fabrication process and the time, cost, and quality tradeoffs to support the function and growth of the team.
  • Manage vendor on boarding and POs.
  • Report project status to leadership.
Top 3 must-have HARD skills:
  • Hardware development project management experience in the last 5 years, working with cross-functional teams like requirement stakeholders, EE, ME, firmware engineer, etc.
  • Understanding of requirement, development, prototyping, and fabrication process /phases, and the schedule, cost, and quality tradeoffs.
  • An open mindset and eager attitude to solve problems. The ability to learn, think creatively, solve problems, and work smart.
  • 8-10 years' experience at least a bachelor's degree, good presentation skills.
Good to have skills:
  • Vendor onboarding, and creating purchase orders.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of task systems.
  • Budget planning experience.
  • Prefer PMI or PMP.

Qualifications:
  • Project management experience. Certified Project Management preferred.
  • Highly organized and flexible to changing scope and project priority changed.
  • Demonstrable experience in a prior role of similar work scope and environment.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of task systems.
  • An understanding of the production, prototyping, and fabrication process and the time, cost, and quality tradeoffs.
  • Needs to be flexible with working hours and daily project changes.
  • The ability to learn, think creatively, solve problems, and work smart.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • PMI or PMP certification preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in OrangePeople monthly team meetings, and participate in team-building efforts.
  • Contribute to OrangePeople technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
