The Radiation Monitoring Systems (RMS) Project Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of engineering projects through all stages from inception to closure. Customer projects are the core of the RMS business, and this position represents a key contributory role. The role leverages the individual's experience in both technical skill and project management combined with appropriate interpersonal ability to meet our customer's requirements. The role will require engineering competency to incorporate electrical, mechanical, and radiological system functions into successful endpoints.

The position requires the ability to make sound decisions on behalf of the business, support direct customer negotiations, and support complex technical and commercial proposals through to project completion. The individual must be aware of constraints driven by Safety, Quality, Regulations, Cost, and Delivery while ensuring an optimal net result for assigned projects. The individual must have the ability to successfully interact and inspire multi-disciplinary teams, driving towards a common goal. Communications at all levels - both internally and externally - are essential for this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide technical assistance on a variety of Imaging topics to cross functional teams such as sales, product management, sourcing/procurement, production, and quality.

Participate in commercial and technical proposal preparation; complete all necessary early engagement work to ensure the successful initiation and planning of projects.

Build Project Plan/s and apply appropriate project principles to deliver stated objectives.

Lead the delivery of assigned projects, throughout their lifecycle to meet Quality, Cost and Delivery constraints.

Schedule and manage resources to deliver projects within the committed schedule and budget. Monitor and report (internally and externally) on progress against the agreed Project Plans, ensuring that issues and risks are raised in a timely manner and at the appropriate level.

Act as primary point of contact as/when external contracting or development resources are necessary.

Identify, specify, and acquire appropriate equipment and essential assembly and test tools including automation of functional test or data collection for efficiency associated with project specific requirements.

Identify and actively monitor project risks and issues, developing mitigation plans as appropriate.

Provide timely reporting and support of business transactions necessary for smooth program operations (i.e., POC calculations, monthly reporting, margin analysis, project management schedules).

Identify key stakeholders and develop effective relationships. Work closely with colleagues to ensure successful start of production and subsequent customer delivery.

Provide review of project engineering deliverables (drawings, procedures, manuals, etc.) to verify conformance to the proposal, to customer specifications, to regulatory requirements as applicable, and to quality program requirements.

Maintain regular engagements with stakeholder groups to ensure timely resolution or escalations of risks/issues, or to request the support required.

Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.

Capitalize on learning from experience. Lead lessons learned initiatives ensuring lessons are identified, recorded, actioned when appropriate, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing.

Occasionally visit customer sites for meetings or walkdowns (estimated travel 10% or less).

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain familiarity with applicable codes and standards that impact bid proposals and project efforts.

Maintain a safe working environment to help ensure that all our employees going home safely at the end of their working day.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential

Minimum of BS in an Engineering or technical background with business emphasis or demonstrated equivalent industrial or military experience.

Experience in managing a portfolio of engineering projects with a total value of $8mm or more, with project durations varying from 6 to 18 months, and multiple concurrent deadlines.

Experience in managing engineering projects in the commercial nuclear power industry is strongly preferred.

Professional Project Management qualification, or several years' hands on experience of full lifecycle i.e., proposal through to acceptance.

Good working knowledge of appropriate project management tools (i.e., Microsoft Projects, Excel).

Excellent leadership, communication, planning, problem solving, time management, organizational skills.

Ability to influence and inspire change in positive and impactful way (i.e., proactively implement strategic decisions and drive customers towards optimal solutions).

Knowledge of engineering design and architecture best practices and processes.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data including site plans, layout drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.

Demonstratable ability to directly design and document basic electro-mechanical solutions

Desirable

8+ years' experience managing projects with demonstrated success from quotation to acceptance.

Familiarity with various ERP and MRP systems (particularly SAP).

Experience in radiation detection instrumentation or similar I&C applications.

Chartered Status with a relevant professional body
