Reports to: Senior Director of Succeed Counseling and Intervention Center The Program Director of Restorative Practices (Program Director) will be a highly motivated energetic administrator who is a visionary leader with a clear understanding of restorative practice and its implementation within the BPS setting. This position sits within the structure of Succeed Boston, the district's Counseling and Intervention Center. The Program Director will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary District teams to develop the vision for restorative practices work and design an implementation plan. This plan, based on recommended best practices, review of research and analysis of data, will create safe and welcoming spaces in our schools that allow for equitable access to instruction for all learners. The Program Director will guide and support the work of the 9 regional RP/SAWS Specialists as they support the district's regional model of support. The Program Director will work closely with the Senior Director of Succeed Boston to ensure alignment with current District and State mandates and to facilitate an approach that is inclusive of the culture and climate work currently being implemented through Succeed Boston. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Create and lead implementation of district wide professional development on restorative practices that is accessible to all levels of school based personnel as well central office based staff Develop and design evidence informed approaches to systems that assure equitable access and accountability across the District Develop and implement data collection systems to ensure knowledge and understanding of the prevention work currently in place across the District Work closely and collaboratively with the Operational Team to assure alignment with the Code of Conduct and increase accessibility to restorative practices as it relates to issues around discipline Create an integrated approach for the use of restorative practices with prevention using the MTSS model Design, curate and develop restorative practices resources for K-12 Provide coaching/training/modeling of best practices to RP/SAWS to support them in facilitating restorative circles and community conferences, as well as informal processes to engage school community members in healing dialogues Lead the work in developing progress monitoring targets that show growth and/or areas of improvement in the development of the district-wide model of restorative work Serve as the liaison between SAWs/RP other interdepartmental and across other disciplines in the Boston Public Schools Support regional SAWs/RP coordinators in planning, implementing, and documenting individual and small-group coaching cycles with school staff, including modeling, observation, and feedback (using rubrics and protocols) Work collaboratively with the Senior Director to ensure compliance with and training related to Bullying Prevention and Intervention. Evaluation and Supervisory Work: This position will work in tandem with the Senior Director of Succeed Boston in evaluating the nine RP/SAWs coordinators in the district The Program Directorwill create evaluation rubrics that pertain specifically to the goals and vision of a successful RP program in the school environment Work with RP/SAWs coordinators in evaluating the effectiveness of specific school based RP practices to ensure fidelity and efficacy Qualifications - Required Deep understanding and at least 5+ years of leading work around restorative practices and Restorative Justice Experience or training related to conflict resolution and/or peer mediation Understanding and experience in building and leading teams Ability to analyze and interpret key data metrics in order to make recommendations, policies, and systems that reflect the current needs of the district Master's Degree in a related field (i.e. Social Work, School Counseling, Humanities) At least 5+ years of working in an urban school environment Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of academic/educational teams within the organization Qualifications - Preferred Bilingual Professional competency School based experience designing and implementing curriculum Proven ability to provide evidence-based facilitative and evaluative feedback to teachers Familiarity with BPS's Code of Conduct and its implementation Terms: BASAS, 10B The Boston Public Schools, in accordance with its nondiscrimination policies, does not discriminate in its programs, facilities, employment, or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record (inquiries only), disability, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics or military status and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.
