The program coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, and documenting on project outcomes. This person will be an integral part of meeting and discussing with program participants/support teams the goals of the Works4Me gran t. This involves working in the process of discovering, exploring, and experiencing interests and areas of skill that will be used to assist those program participants with making progress toward competitive integrated community employment (if that is what they and their support team feel is the most appropriate goal). This person will also work collaboratively with Direct Support Professionals providing daily support to ensure that program participants are aware of and working toward meeting their personal goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: College Degree preferred. High School Diploma or GED will also be considered. Strong preference of previous work experience directly related to delivering services to adults with physical and/or development disabilities.

EXPERIENCE:
1) At least 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
2) Preferred relevant case management experience.
3) Must be able to pass criminal background check and various registry checks.
4) Must pass all requirements to drive Goodwill vehicles.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of positive behavior support principles and training methods for adult learners; knowledge of case management principles, service coordination and team facilitation. Knowledge of various work environment expectations and cultures as well as knowledge on effectively working with families to achieve outcomes. Must possess strong judgment skills to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of adults with disabilities in a variety of settings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Implement customized assessment materials with individuals enrolled in pre-vocational services.
  2. Teach individualized or group job seeking skills training both in the facility and community-based site locations.
  3. Implement curriculum-based classroom activities designed to educate and encourage participants in the areas of vocational choices and outlook for employment, various work cultures, soft skills and functional skills required to be successful at work.
  4. Develop and implement curriculum-based lessons and activities to educate participants on community safety skills.
  5. Engage participants and establish trusting collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive integrated employment.
  6. Conduct ongoing activities and provide documentation on activities directed toward engaging and educating individuals about competitive integrated employment.
  7. Transport participants to educational shadowing and experiences in community-based environments.
  8. Ongoing communications with relevant team members.
  9. Transport individuals in company vehicles and personal vehicles.
  10. Observe and document on participants work in social preferences and skills in community-based settings.
  11. Participate in planning and implementing exponential outings speaker series and various other techniques to educate participants on employment options.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Must be able to physically access and participate in all activities chosen by individuals served.
  2. Must be able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
  3. Must be able to physically demonstrate work activities which would require frequent bending stooping reaching pulling and lifting up to 35 lbs.
  4. Must be able to work in a variety of community settings indoor and outdoor in all climates.
  5. Must be able to drive GW vans for outings, thus meet all requirements of drivers.
  6. Must have independent and reliable transportation for local travel.
  7. Must always possess critical judgment to ensure health and safety of individuals served.
