This vacancy is located at SCLHSA's River Parishes Behavioral Health Center located in Laplace, LA.The incumbent will provide advanced clinical services through individual, family and/or group counseling to a complex caseload of behavioral health clients. The incumbent will also prepare person centered plans for clients based on recommended levels of care, provide both written and verbal documentation and consultation to other agencies, and will also assist the clinic manager in designing and implementing programs which address community needs. NOTE REGARDING THE ADVERTISED PAY: This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG)and may be filled as a Professional Counselor 3 or 4 level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. For further information about this vacancy contact: Macy Comeaux HR Director Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Registration as either a Provisional Licensed Professional Counselor or a Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist by the Louisiana Board of Licensed Professional Counselors plus two years of professional level counseling experience. NOTE: Pursuant to Act 484 of the 2014 Legislative Session and effective May 1, 2015, Counselor Interns are now called "Provisional Licensed Professional Counselors" (PLPCs) and MFT Interns are now called "Provisional Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists" (PLMFTs). Job Concepts FUNCTION OF WORK: To provide professional counseling services. LEVEL OF WORK: Advanced. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Broad from a licensed behavioral health professional or higher-level manager or administrator. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May serve as a lead-worker or provide functional supervision over lower-level professional counselors and professionals in other disciplines. LOCATION OF WORK: May be used by all state agencies. JOB DISTINCTIONS: Differs from the Social Service Counselor job series by presence of recognition as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Intern or a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern by the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners. Differs from the Professional Counselor 2 by the presence of responsibility for specialized caseloads and/or lead-worker duties. Differs from the Professional Counselor 4 by the absence of licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Differs from the Professional Counselor 5 and other supervisory counselor jobs by the absence of supervisory responsibilities. Examples of Work Essential Functions: 90% Provides direct treatment services (individual, group, family, and marital counseling) to a complex caseload to adults and children with behavioral health issues. Provides educational services to groups of clients on behavioral health issues. Serves as a Licensed Counselor for clients with insurance. Prepares person centered plans in consultation with the client and treatment team based on the recommended level of care. Provides emergency services to clients needing crisis intervention for self or family. Participates in case staffing with the treatment team and helps determine proper strategies for intervention and treatment. Monitors clients' urine screen collection for drug screening purposes. Documents written reports to courts, probation officers, employees, schools, and case workers in regards to client's treatment recommendations and progress in treatment. Requests, reviews, and utilizes appropriate behavioral health, medical, etc. correspondence to ensure appropriate treatment interventions. May provide consultation to other agencies such as schools, local hospitals and the coroner's office. 10% Provides treatment recommendations on behalf of clients to judges, probation officers, other court officers, and primary care physicians. Attends meetings, workshops, trainings and seminars for continuing education purposes and professional enhancement and development. Performs any additional duties requested which are not listed in job description but relate to services provided by the clinic.
