Shifts:

Sunday - Friday 11:00pm - 7:00am

Friday - Sunday 5:00am - 5:00pm

  • Responsible for the overall production quantity, efficiency, and quality of the work produced on the shift.
  • With direction from the Finishing Manager, coordinates employees' daily schedules, ensuring all positions are covered to meet production needs, and minimize overtime.
  • Works independently, make decisions, and carries out assignments to completion.
  • Consults with the Finishing Manager in regard to customer needs and assists with expediting jobs through the department.
  • Assists with motivating employees to achieve departmental goals.
  • Makes decisions on the quality of suspect product, and takes corrective action within the department, when necessary.
  • Assists the Quality department with investigating the root cause of key process failures, and takes corrective actions.
  • Monitors and reviews all departmental reports and production metrics.
  • Understands and supports all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations (including safety) associated with the Finishing Department.
  • Ensures all employees are fully trained, and if required, conducts additional training.
  • Enters information into data collection system, verifying as needed.
  • Reports equipment breakdowns to the department manager and Maintenance personnel, following through until resolution.
  • Assists in tracking inventory of consumables, and Work-in-Process (WIP).
  • Assists with the tracking of employee attendance.
  • Identifies and helps implement process improvements, and increased productivity opportunities.
  • Carries out disciplinary actions, supported by the Finishing Manager and Human Resources.
  • Assume the duties of the Finishing Manager, when they are not present.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience, working in a manufacturing environment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must understand upstream operations, downstream operations, and be able to learn each essential duty within the department.
  • Hands-on knowledge of equipment is desired.
  • Must be able to help troubleshoot equipment and provide feedback to the department manager and Maintenance personnel.
  • Must take initiative, be resourceful, and willing to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to facilitate and manage lean practices.
  • Must have the ability to successfully mitigate and resolve team member conflict.
  • Must have the ability to be discreet with company confidential information. Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all team members.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to multitask.
