Position Summary:

This is the entry level of the Production Operator Progression System. The key responsibilities are press floor operations, pack out operations, selected production equipment operations and other general duties as required. Knowledge of and adherence to environmental and safety standards are required. Operators are expected to participate in the Continuous Improvement Process and have the knowledge and ability to perform minor maintenance on production equipment.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
  • Maintain press floor operation through proper press setup for various types of presses and filtration/clarification operations. Know how to detect leaks during water test. Know how to properly clean a press from product to product. Know proper method for discharging press, sampling press cake, sampling tanks, and preparing paperwork.
  • Perform finishing operations which include, setup of pack out systems, setup and initiate tank pump over and package material as required.
  • Perform production and equipment operations which include retrieving raw materials for charging.
  • Maintain environmental and safety standards. This includes knowledge of the SDS system, response to emergency alarms, report and tag broken or unsafe equipment, assist with spill clean-ups, proper disposal of contaminated trash and sludge from process operations, and maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Support and participate in the Continuous Improvement Process
  • Complete all safety and regulatory training as outlined through federal and state agencies and those established by site and divisional management.

Working Experience and Education:
  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ideally be a current resident or incoming resident of the Charleston, SC area with a High School education or equivalency & a minimum of 3 years industrial manufacturing or military experience, ideally within a chemical process environment.
  • Stable employment history. Must be able to pass Company physical and pre and post-employment drug testing.
  • Ability to work 10 and 13-hour shifts, weekends, Holidays, and overtime. Work schedule rotates from days to nights every 2 weeks. Work teams have consecutive work weeks of 39 & 40 hours.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and ability to learn in house software systems related to the manufacturing process. Demonstrated solid skills in math and reading.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment, climb stairs repeatedly, lift 55 lbs. containers and work in a non-climate-controlled environment.

  • Must prioritize task for optimum safety, quality, and quantity of production.
  • Must recognize process deviations and notify appropriate personnel to achieve proper corrective actions.
  • Must recognize hazards to personal health, safety, and the environment and take corrective action.
