Position Purpose

Ensures that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently. Responsibilities of the job include: planning and organizing production schedules; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensures that our products meet the company's standards and specifications
  • Complete, legible and accurate documentation
  • Must understand and follow all company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's)
  • Food Safety and Quality Standard Requirements are being maintained daily
  • Must understand and comply with the company Allergen, Food Defense and HACCP policies
  • Must communicate with Supervision of any Food Safety and Equipment concerns
  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the area worked
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships
  • Never abuse equipment
  • Work with other departments and maintenance to maintain equipment in good working condition
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Correct weighing and recording of any waste to be disposed of
  • Follows all work instructions
  • Perform all other work assigned duties as required by Supervision
  • Keep work area and machinery clean
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as necessary for task at hand
  • Never use damaged pallets
  • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Utilize all safety devices
  • Report any unsafe work practices or injuries to safety and the whole team.
  • Required to maintain a safe and clean work environment

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and monitor all production lines in accordance to the schedule, manpower, Quality Assurance, GMP guidelines and safety requirements
  • Works to maintain and improve on the quality, legality and safety of each product and the processes used in their manufacture
  • Responsible for keeping Facility production area clean and tidy at all times and reporting any potential contamination and suspicious activity to the Facility Director immediately
  • Responsible for producing a quality product that meets all the Safety, FDA, BRC, and Customer regulations
  • Effectively communicates as required with Facility Director.
  • Establishes efficient production processes for all the company's product lines
  • Ensures that all products are in compliance with QA and USDA procedures
  • Regularly train supervisors in methods of improving production processes
  • Prior to shift start, reviews production schedule with the line supervisors and keeps them informed of any changes in product, line changes, material availability
  • Assures that all recipes, bills of material, labels, tools and equipment are ready prior to production start
  • Inspects production lines regularly to assure that Good Manufacturing Practices are followed.
  • Makes certain that production areas are kept clean of waste, debris, and liquids to avoid safety hazards
  • Surveys the plant's perimeter, shipping & receiving area, parking lot, front entrance, rear lot, main entrance hallway, cafeteria, and employee restrooms so that they are safe and clean of debris
  • Takes disciplinary measures when an employee fails to comply with company regulations
  • Responsible for making quality products that meet all the Food Safety, GMP, HACCP, QA, and customer requirements
  • Effectively communicates as required with supervisor
  • Ensures that at the end of the shift all documentation pertinent to production: materials, employee hours, and counts are accurate
  • Educates supervisors in computer usage, pro-active response to down time and rapid shift and product changeovers
  • Resolves quality problems with QA participation immediately
  • Maintains effective communications between the Facility Director, other members of the Facility leadership team, and supervisors.
  • Identifies significant issues related to quality, safety, down time, production problems or any other unexpected issues
  • As new products are introduced, the manager and the supervisors take a pro-active approach to learn everything about the new product and by comparison between shifts
  • Cross-trains all of the line personnel
  • In case of major accident, calls 911 immediately. If the accident is minor, takes the injured party to the respective clinic/hospital, and writes the report immediately
  • To be able to communicate, travel the facility and be able to make critical decisions and expedite solutions when situations arise.
  • Complete KPI's and prepare monthly presentations.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Possess high level of safety awareness.
  • Must possess clerical ability.
  • Must be hardworking and dependable
  • Must possess good communication skills to interact with different groups of people effectively
  • Knowledgeable of GMP's and OSHA regulations
  • Experience in supervision and staffing
  • Experience in planning, coordination and control of manufacturing processes

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level

Required

  • College degree and 10 years of supervisory experience in food production or equivalent combination of the two

Preferred

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Work making fast and repetitive hand motions
