Hospital and Unit Information Union Medical Center (UMC) is an 85-bed acute care hospital located in rural Union, SC. UMC is part of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS). UMC has an Acute Care Inpatient Medical Telemetry Unit that has 15 beds, with an average daily census of 8 patients. This unit is small and family oriented, allowing compassionate patient care. The primary populations served are adult patients needing medical care related to cardiac abnormalities, chest pain, CHF, stroke, COPD, diabetes, electrolyte abnormalities and other chronic medical conditions. Inpatient hospice care and wound care are also offered on this floor. UMC Med/Telemetry associates also have the opportunity to cross train to work in the Department. UMC is excited to announce that they will be moving into a new state-of-the art facility in the coming years. Construction on the 99k+ square foot facility started mid-2023 and is expected to be completed in 2025. Position Summary Under general supervision, the RN demonstrates and utilizes knowledge and skills to provide direct age-specific and culturally appropriate patient care through the use of the nursing process based on knowledge of principles of growth and development, serves as a clinical resource, participates in patient and staff education, demonstrates leadership, and serves as a preceptor. Minimum Requirements Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Baccalaureate Degree preferred Experience Years of experience desired and specified License/Registration/Certifications Current R.N. licensure in the state of South Carolina or Compact State Required ACLS and PALS/NRP as determined by Unit patient demographics Preferred Requirements Preferred Education N/A Preferred Experience N/A Preferred License/Registration/Certifications N/A Core Job Responsibilities Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcome necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes Responsible for demonstrating competency for all new equipment and procedures. Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs Formulates a plan for professional growth Ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care Complies with established policies and procedures Identifies the need to develop or revise policies and procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations and/or unit and hospital-based practices Serves on unit-based committees Educates peers with a minimum of one in-service per year Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory. Assures continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient progress or any change in the patient condition Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the health care team to determine patient priorities and treatments Participates in hourly rounding, bedside shift report, and Care Board information Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients Assesses assigned patients medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician orders, obtaining nursing history, performing physical assessment, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs Hospital and Unit Information Union Medical Center (UMC) is an 85-bed acute care hospital located in rural Union, SC.
