Job Summary

The Chemical Dependency(CD) Therapist, serves as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, is responsible for providing therapeutic services to adult patients under Plum Creek Recovery Ranch's care for substance abuse and mental health problems. The CD Therapist will develop and implement therapeutic treatment plans demonstrating sound application of theory and methodology, assessments and therapy sessions for individuals, families or groups.

Essential Duties:

Conducts psychosocial assessments to document history and identify preliminary issues for treatment focus.

Participates in the formulation of patient's treatment plans, including the establishment of treatment goals and objectives.

Monitors and documents patient's progress in achieving treatment goals and objectives in group notes, as well as through individual and family sessions.

Consult with doctors, case managers and nursing staff as needed to provide quality patient care.

Conducts individual therapy with patients.

Conducts family therapy sessions for patients and family members.

Provides process-oriented group therapies, as well as conducting educational and other didactic groups as assigned.

Reports to community and/or state agencies regarding any patient issues as required by law.

Represents hospital in legal proceedings as required.

Complies with facility safety, infection control and security program.

Supports facility internal and external customer service standards.

Upholds the Organization's ethics and customer service standards.

Requirements

Education - Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling preferred.

Experience - At least 5 years' experience or combination education and experience preferred.

Required Licenses - LCSW, LMSW, LPC or LPC-Intern

Additional Requirements - Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification as well as successful completion of de-escalation training.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of psychiatric and addictive disease diagnoses and treatment; flexibility; teaching or training skills helpful; understanding of, or ability to understand, ASAM and DSM methodology.

Advanced knowledge and clinical skills in diagnosis and treatment of substance use disorders and mental health issues.

Knowledgeable of patient rights and laws.

Must have basic PC skills that include a combination of working in a Windows Operating System and Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

Must have excellent communication skills and be a good listener with a pleasant demeanor that encourages and engages others.Must be able to multi-task, prioritize with time management skills. Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions Perform the following with or without reasonable accommodations: Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.

Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.

Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 db 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction; ability to perceive detailed information orally and make fine discriminations in sound.

Perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers. Individual must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and to be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Work requires a minimum standard of visual acuity with or without correction that will enable people in the role to complete administrative and clerical tasks and visually observe patients in therapeutic activities.

Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another
