Principal Software Engineer in Test

The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced lead Software Engineer in Test to become a member of our Quality Engineering Center of Excellence. You will apply your deep knowledge of quality engineering to define testing best practices. Using your quality engineering leadership experience, you will consult and mentor a significant number of teams to implement these practices. You will use your organized and detailed problem-solving methodologies to identify testing challenges and work to resolve them. You will measure the quality maturity of teams and automate the collection and presentation of these measurements to drive transparency and continuous improvement. You will guide teams as they engineer and experiment with new innovations and process improvements. Using your broad experience across multiple teams and products, you will analyze emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies, and determine which to advance. You will also have an opportunity to work hands-on with AI and large language models to find new ways to improve our quality engineering practices.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Technical / Behavioral
  • Experience in Agile methodologies.
  • Experience leading teams that build test automation.
  • Hands-on experience building test automation (UI, API, ETL).
  • Ability to adapt to new programming languages and new tools and practices.
  • Experience implementing test data management strategies and test environment approaches.
  • Confidence to champion quality engineering.
  • Ability to teach and mentor team members.
  • Detailed and organized approach to solving problems.
  • Communication skills that prioritize collaboration over conflict.
  • Good understanding of quality engineering in Agile to provide constructive feedback to improve sprint deliveries.
  • Experience with requirement analysis, defect tracking, test reporting, and signoff.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills to address sophisticated issues.
  • High level of dedication, initiative, vision, and passion.
  • Ability to create clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly documentation to support self-service and knowledge sharing within the organization.
  • Proven experience identifying a vision and organizing the work to achieve it.

The Skills That Are Good to Have for This Role
  • Familiarity with AI, deep learning, and some hands-on prompt engineering.
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization technologies.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Xray.

The Engineering Excellence Quality Engineering COE defines the optimal quality practices across the delivery lifecycle, educates and coaches teams to adopt them, measures quality maturity and implements automated measurements, works to solve testing challenges, and evaluates new tools, technologies, and practices. The COE works across technology and product organizations to build trust and establish a culture that embeds quality into every delivery.
