About you

We are looking for a dynamic individual eager to significantly influence the direction of our company and product. This pivotal role is deeply hands-on, working directly with cofounders. You are expected to not only spearhead our high-level design strategy but also dive into detailed execution and eventually have the opportunity to create and lead a team.

You're versatile, ready to engage in everything from user research and ideation to product design and development, without the constraints of a narrowly defined role. You are eager to break free from the "UX or UI designer" title and avoid the red tape found in larger organizations.

You're at a career juncture where you possess substantial software product design experience, gained within organizations both large and small, and you're ready to challenge yourself further. If your current role no longer matches your growth aspirations, and you yearn for a space where you can accelerate, this opportunity is for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Project Ownership: Independently lead several design projects, crafting detailed product/design requirements from high-level strategies in direct collaboration with the product cofounder and CTO. With no other PMs to dictate specifics, you'll enjoy considerable freedom to define your role and steer projects.
  2. Design strategy: Identify design hypotheses and challenges, align objectives, and prioritize projects by partnering with teams across product, operations, and engineering.
  3. Design iteration: Build user flows, wireframes, visual comps, and prototypes that effectively convey design concepts, facilitating refinement through iterative testing.
  4. Creative Solutions: Develop creative and unconventional solutions that solve user issues.
  5. Effective Communication: Articulate design choices compellingly and creatively, ensuring cross-functional input to drive execution with excellence.
  6. User Research: Lead user interviews and conduct market research to deepen understanding of customer needs, informing strategic input to the product roadmap.
  7. Design Leadership: Raising the bar. Elevate the company's design acumen and act as an advocate for user experience and design craftsmanship.
Requirements:

Startup Fit: you are born to thrive, not just survive, in a cross-culture, fast-paced, and always-changing early-stage startup environment. You can navigate and get things done when organization and process are fluid.
  • Must have a strong track record of leading complex initiatives from 0 to 1 in real-world startups (pre-Series B).
  • Extreme ownership and self-initiator: You are full horsepower, driving things forward. No one in the organization will "chase" you; we expect you to proactively mobilize resources, align with the team, and achieve significant outcomes.
User Obsession and Design Mastery:
  • 6+ years of experience in designing digital products, covering design strategy, visioning, prototyping, design systems, and the web and mobile craft of large and complex projects.
  • Extremely sensitive to human-computer interaction, with a genuine concern for the nuances of user experience.
  • Extreme attention to detail: Beyond strategizing, you are passionate about the craft, meticulous about every detail users will encounter.
  • Proficient in figma and the latest prototyping tools
Relevant industry expertise in E-commerce and/or Social
  • Experience and a deep understanding of e-commerce or retail tech, encompassing the merchant, the shopper, and the ecosystem. Or you are a social media guru, well-versed in the latest trends and innovation
  • If you have personal experience as a retailer, brand advocate, or social media influencer and can offer first-hand insights and empathy, we're eager to hear your story.
Curious and Motivated Learner: learning is not only happening in the workspace but everywhere and in every second of your life. You couldn't stop talking about the latest tech, design trends, cultural and demographic nuances, and their impact on user experiences. We expect you to generate plenty of ideas and conceptualize and advocate them.
