Location(s): United States of America City/Cities: Apopka Travel Required: 00% - 25% Relocation Provided: No Job Posting End Date: May 1, 2024 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Job Description Summary: Perform basic and complex testing of materials at a high level of throughput using the required chemical, analytical and/ or sensorial methodology according to quality guidelines, with limited supervision. Maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Operate and assist in the evaluation, calibration and validation of analytical testing instrumentation. Develop knowledge in area of expertise. Participate in research on and development of new and unproven methods for analysis and identification of ingredients, intermediates and finished products. Knowledge and understanding of general laboratory safe practices, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Quality Management Systems (QMS). Drives continuous improvement (OE) within lab operations to enhance quality and service while reducing the costs. Recommends and executes with capital and instrument purchase projects. Our Laboratory is ISO/IEC 17025 Certified for several test methods. This role may require work time as early as 5 am. Career Level is determined based off the skills and experiences of the candidate. What you'll do for us Once the successful candidate has received appropriate training, they will be expected to perform at a high level and will: Be familiar with required testing and processes within their dedicated area Evaluate information to determine compliance with specifications or standards, Interpret results Work with Laboratory Manager to ensure proper use of resources Interpret databases for specifications, methods, and standards Contribute to summaries and reports Serve as a Function Lead or Process Owner within the lab; LIMS Power User and a Flavor Sensory lead Lead R&D flavor sample prototype work Key Duties and Responsibilities Ability to perform basic and complex testing of materials at a high level of throughput using the required chemical, microbiological, physical, analytical and/or sensorial methodology as required on ingredients, intermediates and finished products and report results. Perform in a multi-task environment where simultaneous testing will occur throughout the day in order to meet our customer's needs. Interpret data from routine analyses to validate materials meet specifications. Applies a standard approach to record and interpret results, may issue reports with peer review. Basic Analytical Chemistry: Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis or Basic Microbiology: Basic knowledge of food and water microbiology Understand theory and application of instrumental analysis to analyze ingredients, syrups, beverages, concentrates or other substances, leverage LIMS systems for data collection, review and release. Demonstrated knowledge and application of Good Laboratory Practices; Laboratory/Analytical Instrumentation, including instrumental theory, operation, maintenance, statistical analysis and ability to operate, maintain laboratory instruments; LIMS; Quality management systems while working safely. Engage in daily contact with key laboratory and plant personnel e.g. Lab manager, other team members, understand lab workload, priorities, and other pertinent information. Ability to communicate technical information both verbally and in written reports that is understandable by technical and non-technical audiences; to produce report of results and recommendations that is clear and concise. Build technical relationships. Must be able to maintain a strong level of confidentiality. Report peer reviewer (e.g. Validation, Supplier Data) May create queries and build reports Lead method development & validation Recommends and executes capital projects Review and authorize sample release Understands upstream/downstream implications of decisions/approvals Serve as a function lead and/or process owner Requirements & Qualifications Manufacturing experience is preferred Preferred experience with Flavor methodologies such as refractometry, titration, turbidity, density, sensory, gas and liquid chromatography Preferred working knowledge of mass spectrometry Intermediate use level of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Related Experience / Educational Requirements Must possess a Master of Science or Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry 5 years' experience in laboratory quality testing, chromatography LIMS Power User Flavor Sensory experience What we can do for you Experience: With a global organization and the opportunity to learn and grow within our state-of-the-art laboratory facility. Business travel seldom occurs. Skills: Pay Range: $82,900 - $112,200 Base pay offered may vary depending on geography, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
