Client is currently seeking a Principal Database Administrator to join a talented team that develops enhancements and modifications to existing software systems. The successful candidate will provide database administration to high priority infrastructure/systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Database administration of servers in cluster and container environments running a variety of operating systems/applications to include Linux and Solaris.
• Work will include database architecture design, installation, configuration, maintenance, and urgent troubleshooting efforts.
• Perform administrative and maintenance tasks on our Oracle and PostGRES databases.
• Perform planning, coordination, and execution of database installations and upgrades and patches.
• Respond to all database related work requests, including working with system maintainers, system engineering analysis, and integration efforts.
• Maintain and update design and database schema documentation. The work environment fluctuates between routine and urgent, depending on ongoing tasks, priorities, and performance of assigned systems. Required Skills:
• BS Degree and minimum of 8 years experience - OR - 16 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
• Must have a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II (minimum) Certification or must obtain the certification within the first 60 days of employment.
• Experience with Solaris and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with Oracle and PostGRES Database Administration
• Experience with Oracle versions 12c and higher f
• Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and DataGuard
• Experience with RMAN for database backup and recovery
• Experience with SQL, PLSQL, OPatch, database and query tuning
• Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
• Must be a self-starter and team player that is willing to provide support to a variety of tasks and to support unplanned high priority customer activities
• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to clearly communicate with intra-organizational and inter-organizational contacts
• Must possess strong customer service and team skills, proven customer interaction and customer support experience Desired Skills:
• Experience with scripting (sh, csh, bash, Python, perl)
• Experience/exposure with SUN cluster environment
• Experience with Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA) compliance Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship and a TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph are required.
