Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental sciences, or a related field, with a minimum of three years of work experience in the environmental field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to the Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program and NPDES permitting. Experience performing environmental sampling, interpretation of laboratory data, database management, industrial inspections, and enforcement. Good oral/written communication, interpersonal and public relations skills. Knowledge of computers and related software applications. Preferred experience with Industrial Waste Pretreatment permit writing, GIS mapping, illicit discharge investigation. Ability to read plans and blueprints, write inspection reports and prepare presentations. General knowledge of safety procedures working in an industrial setting.
Current valid driver's license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. This position is considered Safety Sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Support Chesterfield County's Industrial Waste Pretreatment Program by preventing the introduction of pollutants that would interfere with the treatment of plant's operation, pass through and affect the aquatic life in the receiving waters, or adversely affect worker's health and safety. Perform duties associated with: EPA mandated Industrial Waste Pretreatment program, SIU permitting, IU inspections, illicit discharge investigation, surcharge program, enforcement of Federal, State and local regulations, record keeping and database maintenance. Perform other work as required.

Monday - Friday; 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
