Job Summary Job Summary Preschool/Childcare Substitute This position is under the direct supervision of the Childcare Director SALARY: PK/EN Substitute Salary Schedule AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Assist in implementing activities for both small and large group activities Supervise and be actively involved with children Model professional and respectful behavior for the children/parents Respectfully use appropriate behavior management and classroom discipline techniques Treat children with dignity and respect Help students learn personal responsibility and respect for fellow students Responsible for health and safety of children at all times. Assist with care and maintenance of outdoor equipment and classroom supplies including daily clean-up of activities. Engage in behaviors conducive to team building with other staff, such as open communication, encouragement, and support. Other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and run on a variety of surfaces (sand, dirt, asphalt, gravel, recycled tire pieces, cement, grass etc.). The employee is frequently required to crawl, crouch, kneel and sit on the floor/ground. Frequent bending of the knees and at the waist is also necessary. The employee is required to speak and hear constantly. There will be times when the employee will need to taste and smell as well. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. This employee will be required to work in outside weather conditions as well as inside of the classroom. The indoor and outdoor environments are usually loud (above 60 decibels) QUALIFICATIONS Must be a high school graduate if under 18 years of age and must demonstrate experience working with children. As per state licensing requirements, prior to employment candidate must submit proof of an annual physical and TB test as well as a finger print clearance for our Sunol Glen School District.
