Job Description

Duties
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures related to safety. Maintains only the highest safety standards by wearing proper PPE, etc.
  • Performs tasks within acceptable limits for quality, quantity, sanitation, and timeliness of completion, paying particular attention to prevent and eliminate costly errors.
  • Meets company's attendance requirements including timely reporting of absence and working overtime as requested.
  • Mix and stage inks needed to meet the needs of the press schedule.
  • "QC" mixed ink in the ink lab
  • Monitor ink requirements at the press and deliver ink to press in a timely manner to ensure presses have adequate ink supply to run continuously. Deliver and return inks from the press room.
  • Color match ink at the press.
  • Makes solvent blends for presses - ensure the correct solvent blend is being used per press schedule and press set up sheet
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of ink/solvents usage
  • Responsible for recording, labeling ink containers (drums, buckets, etc.)
  • Receive (unload) inks, load used drums onto trucks, transport inks and solvents within the mixing and outside storage areas
  • Responsible for handing waste in in accordance with hazardous waste
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area, in accordance to 5S Standards, by cleaning spills and disposing of trash on a timely basis.
  • Participates in on-the-job training and instruction to learn other job tasks.
  • Complies with Company policies and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basis math skills
  • Must be able to operate basic hand tools
  • Must be able to differentiate colors well (e.g. aptitude for color matching)
Sources
  • 2 plus years of experience in a manufacturing setting, printing or color matching experience is a plus
  • High School education or equivalent
Responsibility

Responsible for mixing, checking color ("QC") and delivering inks used in the printing process the press room. The ink technician is also responsible for color matching inks at the presses.

Physical Requirements
  • The position requires an employee to stand and walk for an extended period of time.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and working with hazardous materials.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 55 lbs, move drums using a drum dolly, operate a electric pallet jack and must adhere to PPE and GMP requirements.
