Job Summary: Under general supervision set up, adjust, and operate a non-heatset UV web press and related near-line finishing equipment to manufacture printed product. Responsible for all finishing processes including collating, cutting, and trimming as part of the calendar, sticky note, and cube production lines.



Job Summary: Under general supervision the Computer to Plate (CTP) Technician sets the foundation for successful print production by use of computerized methods and appropriate software to prepare digital files, imposed layouts and visual inspections to produce thermal printing plates.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicates to Supervisor and/or MFG Facilitator to address any work area concerns.
  • Follows all Safety and Quality protocols and adheres to ISO 9001; 14001, 6S Standards and Lean processes.
  • Maintains an effective working relationship and communication with fellow employees, including temporary associates, by adhering to Koozie Group's policies in all activities and through promoting Koozie Group's Vision and Values and Respect in the Workplace.
  • Performs operator-level maintenance duties on all equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and maintains documentation of maintenance.
  • Reach, bend, twist, push, pull, grasp and stand for extended periods of time as well as freely move about the facility as needed for the position
  • Responsible for communicating effectively regarding systems and software requirements, file format issues and possible solutions, file transfer issues, and software training with internal and external customers at all levels of understanding.
  • Reports time accurately; direct, indirect, training, meetings
  • Report daily production accurately in eBS/Oracle and in work center production cards
  • Work every job with the objective of constant improvement of services for internal and external customer.
  • Maintains established labor efficiencies for file prep and outputs
  • Reads and follows all Job Plan and Job Traveler directions.
  • Imposes digital files using Apogee
  • Assure that all the information on the digital files is correct regarding accuracy of files generated.

  • Identify any prepress or manufacturing issues during "preflight" operations
  • Rule out and produce score plates for presses
  • Supports teamwork and process improvements through active participation in meetings and helping team ideas work.
  • Acquires comprehensive and working knowledge of pre-press software to communicate and/or make corrections to digital files; to troubleshoot file, software, and system problems; and integrate new or upgraded software.
  • Sets up plating machine and operates it according to work instructions and operator manual.
  • Identifies when mechanical problems occur and call maintenance or a service call.
  • Visually inspects plates to ensure they meet quality standards

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains understanding of graphic arts and pressroom terminology.
  • Continually upgrades knowledge of various computer programs and devices used in file creation and in the Apogee area, requiring independent study and professional instruction as needed.
  • To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma with some College or Trade School Graphics Arts preferred.

Job Skills:

  • Comprehensive pressroom knowledge.
  • High level of math and problem-solving skills needed
  • Mechanical skills preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate and work well both independently and within a group.
  • Organizational and communication skills.
  • Reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Requires optical skills for color and fine detail.

Job Experience:

  • 3 years Graphic Arts pre-press or press experience, including page imposition, layout, back-up and process color work.
  • Intermediate computer skills with an in defined knowledge of computer software currently used in pre-press areas
  • Knowledge of quality methods and techniques preferred.
  • Experience with graphics software; InDesign, Apogee, Illustrator, Photoshop, Pre-Flight, Acrobat.
