Job Description The focus of the Pre-Health Advisor and Recruitment Coordinator is to assist students preparing for a variety of professional health fields, including pre-medicine, pre-dental, and pre-veterinary medicine. The advisor/recruitment coordinator must be familiar with requirements for health professional programs available at Idaho State as well as at other institutions. Must be able to advise students on a variety of health programs and degree offerings, including the Bachelor of Science in Health Science. This individual is Idaho State University's point of contact for health professional school admissions committees as well as pre-requisite course departments (Biological Sciences, Chemistry, etc.) and coordinates recruitment activities in collaboration with professional programs and Kasiska Division of Health Sciences leadership. Key Responsibilities Be familiar with a variety of health professions (Medicine, Dentistry, PA, others) prerequisite and admissions requirements, as well as general education requirements; provide students with up-to-date admissions and scholarship information through regular advising. Maintain admissions-related information resources for students, including websites and fact sheets. Maintain NAAHP/WAAHP and similar memberships and attend local, regional, and national meetings. Chair the Pre-health Professions Advisory Committee and participate in Pre-health Professional Student Association activities. Coordinate recruiting activities (career fairs, etc.) for KDHS pre-health and professional programs, work with liaisons from different ISU professional programs and Biological Sciences. Work with KDHS Marketing and Communications to maintain pre-health advising website and social media presence. Manage the Pre-Health Advising Office Budget. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree One year of experience in student advising in higher education or related higher education experience Excellent written and spoken communication skills Understanding of student development theory Experience with student data management systems Preferred Qualifications Master's degree Experience in health professions advising Experience with Graduate Medical Education including Medicine, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Veterinary Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies, etc. Two or more years in student advising Experience with the Banner student management system Additional Information You must submit your CV/resume, cover letter, and list of three (3) professional references, including current contact information. Salary will be between $50,000 to $55,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
