Otak is currently seeking a Practice Area Leader to join our expanding Transportation and Infrastructue group. In this role, you'll lead a team of dedicated professionals, contributing to impactful projects that benefit our communities. We're looking for a seasoned business leader with a strong background in civil transportation project delivery and a track record of driving growth through effective business development strategies. As a key player, you'll shape our strategic direction, fueling long-term growth and solidifying our position as an industry leader. Your duties will include providing leadership to support managers in meeting business objectives, maintaining top-quality delivery standards, and fostering client relationships. What you'll do: Develop and implement strategic plans for long-term growth and industry leadership. Identify and pursue strategic opportunities to support business plan targets. Provide support to managers to meet business plan targets, with a focus on strategic clients. Ensure profitability through effective project management and mitigation of losses. Drive revenue generation efforts to meet business plan targets. Meet utilization targets and mitigate project losses through effective management. Lead strategic hiring efforts and support recruitment activities to ensure the acquisition of top talent. Work closely with Regional Directors to manage staffing levels and facilitate work sharing initiatives across teams. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Develop and implement training programs to ensure staff members meet technical needs and remain up to date with industry trends and best practices. What you bring: Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required. Licensed Colorado Professional Engineer required A minimum of 20 years of experience in business development, design, management and construction of civil, highway, and bridge engineering transportation projects. Extensive business development and project management experience. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Proven track record of strategic thinking and long-term planning. Ability to meet business plan targets for revenue and profitability. Experience in strategic hiring and recruitment, with a focus on career and professional development. Excellent client management skills, ensuring consistent quality delivery and fostering strong relationships. Active participation in professional organizations. The salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications, and work location as well as market and business considerations.
