Description Corteva Agriscience is a leader in delivering novel and sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture. The Protein Engineering, Optimization and Design (PEOD) team within the Trait Discovery and Optimization (TDO) group combines protein engineering, structure biology, genomic analysis, and directed evolution to identify and improve novel insect control, herbicide tolerance, and agronomic traits. We are seeking an exceptional Postdoctoral Scientist to join the Protein Engineering, Optimization and Design team. The successful candidate will be member of a directed evolution working group that optimizes insecticidal, herbicide tolerance, or agronomic trait proteins for a variety of desired properties. This role will be on-site at our Corteva location in Johnston, IA. Responsibilities - What You Will Do: Design, construct and implement high complexity phage, yeast, or ribosome display library for directed evolution of insecticidal, herbicide tolerance, or agronomic trait proteins Remain on the cutting-edge of new directed evolution methods and explore how those new technologies can be applied to eukaryotic proteins Part of a Directed Evolution working group that supports the overall Trait Discovery and Optimization group Design and execute multiple biopanning experiments in parallel, keep track of results, and perform data analysis Critically analyze data and communicate results with project teams and stakeholders to make appropriate decisions about project direction Collaborate across research groups to develop and implement experimental plans Qualifications Requirements - What Skills You Need: Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related biological disciplines with 0-2 years of post-doctoral experience. Competencies and Qualifications: Experience in protein biochemistry or structure biology Experience utilizing directed evolutionary techniques is preferred Hands-on library construction experience with phage display is recommended but not required Working knowledge of statistics and bioinformatics tools and familiarity with NGS sequencing is recommended but not required Experience in organizing, analyzing, and interpreting large volumes of data Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and technical writing skills are required. Must be reliable, self-motivated, persistent, and can work effectively both independently and in teams.
