Opportunity: Postdoctoral Scholarships in Disease-focused Neuroscience

The Mucke Laboratory has a long track record of innovative research contributions and of training leaders in this field. We are inviting applications from talented students with matching interests and ambitions to join our highly interactive team of scientists at the Gladstone Institutes and UCSF in San Francisco.


Successful candidates will work directly with Dr. Lennart Mucke and become part of a dedicated and collaborative team focusing on processes that cause cognitive disorders, ranging from dementias to epileptic encephalopathies and autism spectrum disorders. We use rodent and tissue culture models to investigate disease mechanisms and address related fundamental neuroscientific questions at molecular, cellular, network and behavioral levels. Experimental models are also used to develop and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies. The clinical relevance and translational potential of these strategies are assessed through collaborations with leading clinical programs.


Dr. Mucke is fully committed to results-oriented mentorship and has an outstanding record of helping individuals of diverse backgrounds pursue successful careers in academia or industry.


Position Requirements:

Candidates should possess a PhD, MD, or both and have a strong background in neuroscience or other relevant areas of biomedical research, as well as an outstanding record of academic achievements and research productivity.

Hiring Range:

$64,480-$76,980 (DOE)
