JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of Mathematics in Penn State's Eberly College of Science is currently accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position which is funded through a Department of Energy (DOE) project. The primary focus of this position is scientific computing with a specialization in phase field modeling. The successful candidate will collaborate with Drs. Wenrui Hao and Long-Qing Chen on various aspects, including the development of mesoscale computational models, efficient numerical algorithms suitable for exascale computation, and the creation of software validated by experiments for quantum and functional materials. In addition to research responsibilities, there may be opportunities for teaching within this appointment. Education and Experience The position requires a completed Ph.D. preferred in phase field modeling, scientific computing, applied mathematics, or computer science. The position is ideal for someone with training in numerical PDEs with a strong background in finite element method. Programming experience, especially with Python and/or C/C , is a plus.
