Position Details Position Information Recruitment/Posting Title Post Doctoral Associate Department SAS-Ctr for Cognitive Sciences Salary Commensurate With Experience Posting Summary RuCCS Teacher-Scholars hold a full-time position To accommodate the diversity of training and career paths, the scholarship expectations for RuCCS Teacher-Scholars are flexible and can include a broad range of scholarly approaches, including laboratory research. Teacher-Scholars follow a progression of mentored academic development that gradually increases in independence and responsibility. Every Teacher-Scholar has a primary faculty mentor and participates in a program of professional development training led by Rutgers faculty and staff. Each Teacher-Scholar is provided with shared office space and a research allowance to support travel to academic conferences and other expenses. Teacher-Scholars are required to contribute to the RuCCS community by participating in seminars, conferences, and other academic programming. Position Status Full Time Posting Number 24FA0137 Posting Open Date 03/01/2024 Posting Close Date Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Scholars must be no more than 4 years removed from the award of the PhD in a cognitive science-related field at the time of hiring. RuCCS Teacher-Scholars will work at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. Exceptional teaching is expected, but not all cognitive science trainees have the opportunity to accumulate much teaching experience during their graduate training. Candidates with limited classroom experience who can otherwise demonstrate their instructional abilities will be given full consideration. Scholars are expected to work with a primary faculty mentor who is active within RuCCS. US citizenship is not required. The Center's membership includes faculty from philosophy, psychology, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, psychiatry, behavioral economics, and engineering. RuCCS faculty seek to understand perception, language, decision making, and other aspects of cognition, along with how to apply that understanding to solve real-world problems. RuCCS aims to support the development of cognitive science as a field and places great importance on the training of the next generations of scholars. Participants in the RuCCS Postdoctoral Teacher-Scholar Program are a part of this academic community, engaging in mentored scholarship while teaching undergraduate courses.
