Position Information Classification Title Post-Doctoral Associate AD FLSA Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary This research-focused position will be part of a two-year, cohort-based postdoctoral training program funded by the National Science Foundation. Each of the four postdocs in the cohort will be co-mentored by experts in biology education and relevant social science fields (e.g., cognitive psychology, educational psychology, higher education, measurement). Each Fellow will choose a defined cross-disciplinary research project to carry out and be mentored in developing their own independent research project. Research project themes include Equity & Justice in STEM; Institutional & Systemic Change; Learning, Cognition & Instruction; and Design & Measurement. Research training will be complemented by cohort-based and individualized professional development, including options to gain teaching and mentoring experience, complete diversity and inclusion certification, interact with a national group of experts, write papers and proposals, network at national/international meetings, explore career options, and search and apply for jobs. Each postdoc will have opportunities to interact with a vibrant group of faculty interested in undergraduate and graduate education in STEM disciplines as well as other postdoctoral associates, graduate and undergraduate researchers, and professional staff as part of the Biology Education Research Group (BERG) and Scientists Engaged in Education Research (SEER) Center at University of Georgia, with an option to gain college-level teaching experience in a discipline of interest. Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Candidates should have: (a) a Ph.D. in a life science or social science discipline, or closely related field; (b) a record of peer-reviewed publication; demonstrated interest in biology education research; and (d) demonstrated capacity to manage research projects, including collecting and analyzing data and disseminating results orally and in writing. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Design, conduct, and disseminate original research Work collaboratively across natural and social science disciplines Present research orally in informal (e.g., in research groups) and formal venues (e.g., at conferences) Write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals Physical Demands Sitting, standing for long periods of time.
