Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. The School teaches approximately 600 PharmD students and 145 graduate students. Position Summary We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Nguyen Lab combines novel pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, and drug delivery approaches to develop next-generation biomaterials for the treatment of heart attacks. Current projects are supported by several multi-year NIH grants. A post-doctoral fellow in our lab will have the opportunity to lead the development of new biomaterials and delivery approaches designed to modulate inflammatory responses in ischemic heart diseases to halt disease progression. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Expertise in one of the following areas: mesenchymal stem cell isolation and culturing, extracellular vesicles, protein expression and purification, bioconjugate chemistry, or cardiovascular research Strong oral and written communication skills.
