Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating, controlling and supervising all aspects of the Aquatic Facility which provides direct support to swim instruction classes and the general public.Under the authority of the Parks & Recreation Director the specific function included, but are not limited to: Responsible for the management and supervision of the aquatics facility for the purpose of providing support to various programs as they relate to the pool area. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all activities associated with the swimming pool. Responsible for overseeing the maintenance requirements associated with the chemical operation of the pool. Responsible for notifying the maintenance staff of any repairs needed to equipment associated with the pool. Supervise, schedule and trains the aquatic staff to perform lifeguarding, maintenance and sanitary responsibilities pertaining to the pool. Responsible to ensure completeness and timeliness of administrative matters relative to inventories, purchasing matters, scheduling, issue and turn-in time records, time sheets, safety inspection reports and other administrative matters as assigned. Responsible for direct coordination with maintenance staff and other support staff to ensure timely support to the various programs assigned to the area of responsibility. Will have some involvement with other programs, such as Special Olympics, Challengers Program, ect. Responsible to be on duty when the assistant manager is not there and pool is open. Responsible for scheduling duty hours for each employee. The duty schedule will be posted no later than 7 days prior to the beginning of the new week. Responsible for informing the Parks and Recreation office if it is necessary to close the pool due to unsafe conditions such as inclement weather, unsafe water conditions and vandalism. Responsible for notifying the Assistant Manager as well as the Parks & recreation office if unable to attend work. Responsible for processing and depositing all money associated with the pools Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age or older. Certificate of lifeguard training. First Aid and CPR certification. AED certification preferred. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient in interacting with people of various ages from diverse backgrounds. Available to work shifts. Physically fit, strong, agile and dexterous. Knowledge of: Operation and proper maintenance of pool equipment, materials, procedures and machinery used within the pool facility. Oral and written communication skills. Basic health and safety practices. Proper lifting techniques. Ability to learn proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Ability to: Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair in trade areas. Work independently with little direction or as a member of a crew. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Subject to outdoor environments: seasonal heat, temperature changes and extreme weather conditions. Physical demands include lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. Standing, sitting, and walking for extended periods of time.
