Position: Pool Coordinator Position Purpose: Responsible for planning, organizing and directing all pool programs. Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean pool and adjoining areas. Qualifications: 1. Minimum of three years of pool supervision experience including a knowledge of swimming curriculum, hiring and scheduling of staff, and maintaining the chemical balance of the pool. 2. Two or four year degree desirable, but not mandatory, in Recreation, Physical Education or related field. Will accept applications from candidates with extensive pool directing background. 3. Certified in Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instruction, CPR, First Aid and Certified Pool Director. 4. The ability to organize a pool staff, including the development of descriptions, work schedules, and time sheets. 5. The ability to relate well with employees, staff members, parents and members of the community. Responsibilities: 1. Provide swimming instruction, along with district PE teacher, for daytime PE classes kindergarten - fifth grade. 2. Serve as the lifeguard for students during the daytime (see Working Hours below). 3. Prepare daily lesson plans to meet requirements for different ages and abilities. 4. Supervise and assist in the locker rooms. 5. Communicate with parents and classroom teachers regarding medical problems, behavioral concerns, and issues with children who are afraid of the water. 6. Maintain pool: a. Test pool chemical balance three times per day. b. Maintain proper chemical balance for chlorine, pH, and pressure. c. Maintain state and county reports. d. Take bacteriological test once a month. e. Order pool chemicals and supplies. 7. Supervise community swim program. a. Hire, train, supervise and schedule evening lifeguards. b. Develop an annual pool schedule which includes Adult Lap, Open/Family, Water Aerobics and Hammerhead Swim team. c. Collect money. d. Work with special needs students as time allows. e. Coordinate with the YMCA on their Saturday and Summer swim lessons (Note: The YMCA is responsible for securing their lifeguards.) Working Hours: 1. During the school year (September - May), the Pool Coordinator will be onsite each day, Monday - Thursday, for an average of 4-5 hours in the afternoon, to provide pool coverage for district PE classes and complete all of the duties and responsibilities outlined in this posting. 2. During the summer (June - August), the Pool Coordinator must maintain the pool and schedule lifeguards for community swim times that take place Monday - Thursday.
