Job Summary: Effective installation of plumbing systems and inspect structures to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand and power tools. Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe threading machine. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead and various non-metals, using hand tools and power tools. Join pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulk joints. Fill pipe systems with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members. May need to be able to run crews and/or direct apprentices and helpers in safe installation and assembly of plumbing systems. Duties/Responsibilities: In charge of installing, inspecting and repairing pipes and plumbing systems to make sure of all building's fixtures operate correctly. You ask the right questions to provide the best solution for the situation You have the ability to prioritize multiple stakeholders and responsibilities and successfully meet deadlines You love being the lead on projects and can work with a team to drive results You are detail-oriented and organized Required Skills/Abilities: Perform installation of plumbing Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean Perform necessary repairs to previously installed systems Keep up to date with current and safety regulations and requirements for the installed plumbing system. Work carefully to follow all current regulations for plumbing work to ensure that all installed systems pass inspections. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean. Keep detailed reports of completed work Provide information regarding plumbing system upkeep. Safety: Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the supervisor immediately. Tools: Hand and power tools Basin Wrench, Toilet Auger Pipe Wrench Tube Cutter, etc. Education and Experience: Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques Knowledge of plumbing codes Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to use hand and power tools. Dexterity skills for proper handling of hands when working on cramped and delicate spaces and parts 3 years minimum of service & repair plumber. Expertise in modular construction is a plus Ability to diagnose & perform plumbing work State plumbing license (preferred). demonstrates quality workmanship Physical Requirements: Standing up to 8 hours per day; Walking up to 8 hours per day on uneven, difficult terrain. Occasional heavy manual labor including lifting and carrying up to 50-70 pounds. Regular and repetitive grasping, gripping, reaching, bending, stooping, crouching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and working overhead. Frequently works in closed or cramped spaces.
