The Sheboygan Area School District is the largest school district in Sheboygan County and offers comprehensive and innovative educational opportunities for students from 4-year-old kindergarten through college courses offered in our high schools. Position Summary Repair and install water supplies to sinks, toilets, drinking fountains, and other related equipment. Repair and install drain and vent systems. Repair and install storm and sanitary sewers. Design, plan, and install plumbing systems. Do material takeoffs and advise the Supervisor of Maintenance of materials and stock needs to ensure efficient and economical purchasing procedures are followed. Record hours needed to complete a job and the material used on each work order. Lead the work and provide on-the-job training for less skilled employees such as repairmen, apprentices, or seasonal helpers. Meet with building administrative or custodial staff and/or contractors and vendors to discuss maintenance problems or procedures at the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance. With the approval of the Supervisor of Maintenance, purchase materials or supplies from local dealers. Maintain shop tools in good working condition. Work with the Supervisor of Maintenance to develop specifications and review plans. Assist in the Capital Improvements Plan process. Other duties as assigned by administration. The work hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Travel to all schools within the school district using a district vehicle. A criminal background check will be preformed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Valid State of Wisconsin driver's license. Employment is contingent upon the district's insurance carrier approving insurability based on past and future driving records. Must have and maintain a Wisconsin Master Plumber license. Additional vocational and technical training is highly desired. Must have and maintain a certificate to test backflow prevention devices annually and record results per State requirements. Must have two years of experience beyond apprenticeship in the plumbing field. The ability to read blueprints and perform shop-related mathematical calculations is essential. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods. Must provide basic hand tools. Must work cooperatively as a team member. Ability to communicate with and work cooperatively with building principals, staff, parents, and others. Ability to perform preventive maintenance on all pumps and plumbing systems. Demonstration of reliability and dependability based on attendance. Must be able to lift 50 pounds overhead, unassisted. Must be able to work in confined spaces or elevated positions (scaffold, extension ladders, etc.) in all types of weather and for extended periods.
