Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time (40 hours), year-round first shift plumber.

The first shift plumbing position reports directly to the Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing Supervisor, with day to day governance through the lead plumber for the MEP trade group. The position works from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and have the ability to problem solve and coordinate their work tasks by priority and time required. A Plumber on this campus is required to perform a variety of basic plumbing work, and have a basic to moderate knowledge of standard building utilities. It is understood that this position will have the ability to install, maintain and repair plumbing systems, plumbing fixtures and appurtenances (toilets, sinks/faucets, showers/faucets, water heaters, tubs, etc.). Further, the position will have the ability to assist as needed in the troubleshooting, repair/maintenance and installation of HVAC equipment as required. All work is managed through a work order system, and the successful candidate is required to have a working knowledge of computers to aid in updating materials & supplies, labor hours, and actions taken through the work order system.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform a variety of basic plumbing work associated with the repair and construction of campus facilities, with a focus on general repairs and basic to moderately complex aspects of remodeling and new construction projects.
  • Domestic heat & hot water (All associated equipment/devices)
  • Restroom, shower and kitchen fixtures in a residential setting
  • Sewer/waste drains and associated venting
  • Professional kitchen equipment support (Water feeds, drainage, grease traps, enzyme systems and maintenance.
  • Gas piping and associated connections (both residential and commercial).
  • Irrigation support
  • Clean tools, equipment and work sites upon completion of job.
  • Follow proper safety procedures in all activities.
  • Maintain required records of work performed.
  • Support other trades as needed.
  • Assist as needed with other building and grounds maintenance tasks.

Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or equivalent required, plus 2 to 4 years of relevant training and/or experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Valid plumbing license
  • Licensing beyond the plumbing license is encouraged
  • Broad range of technical knowledge and skills related to plumbing system installation, maintenance and repair.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Must have physical ability to do heavy lifting and to perform all other primary job duties.
  • Position requires the ability to support on-call nights and weekends as scheduled or required.
