Able to work independently of close supervision; journeyman level and five years experience in the plumbing field. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, rough plans, sketches, drawings and broken parts. Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the plumbing trade. Current driver's license and driving record acceptable to the University must be maintained as a condition of employment. Any qualifications to be considered in lieu of stated minimums require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director Preferred Above required plus Journeyman level schooling. Primary Responsibilities Position responsible for the installation, modification and repair of University plumbing and related systems, equipment and fixtures. Assists with plans, lay outs, and participates in and supervise plumbing work on job sites and in the shop. Estimates job labor and material costs, maintains records, requisitions materials, supplies and equipment. Must practice proper safety procedures, use personal protective devices and attend frequent safety and job training sessions. Other duties as assigned. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Position is Security Sensitive. After hours and weekend on-call availability required. Other Information Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
