This position will work at a Medium Custody Adult Male Felon Diagnostic Processing Center located in Vanceboro, NC with an offender population of 850. The primary purpose is to install, maintain, alter and repair plumbing systems at Craven Correctional Institution. An individual in this class performs journey level duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of air, gas, water, and waste disposal systems. This position is responsible for ongoing preventative maintenance and continuous repair of numerous water/piping systems throughout the facility including pneumatic mixing valves, domestic water systems, non-potable water systems, heating/cooling piping and hot water boilers. Will install, repair and replace commodes, sinks, water coolers, water heaters, shower valves, water faucets, flush valves and other related fixtures and equipment. Will normally perform duties at the journeyman level of the plumbing trade. At times this position will be expected to provide assistance to other maintenance staff in other areas of responsibility. As such, the position will be cross-trained and able to perform or assist in the performance of other construction or maintenance related tasks as assigned.
