The Utilities Plant Specialist provides operational, technical, and maintenance support for the Utilities Department. Learn on all aspects of the area systems to ensure consistent support operation to the site. Facilitate equipment maintenance, changes, and improvements. Operations: Responsible for ensuring 24 x 7 Utilities Operations technical support, 365 days a year. Provide operational and technical support for the following: Compressed Air Generation and Distribution Steam Generation and Distribution Chilled Water Generation and Distribution Well Water Generation and Distribution Potable Water Generation and Distribution Purified Water Generation and Distribution Ethylene Glycol Generation and Distribution Deionized Water Generation and Distribution Water for Operations Generation and Distribution Boiler Make up Water Generation and Distribution Boiler Condensate Generation and Distribution Boiler Feedwater Generation and Distribution Cooling Water Generation and Distribution Use of OSI- PI, SAP, Shiftbook, Testify, Power Apps, Trackwise, Microsoft: Project/Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Teams, SharePoint, Success Factors, and other systems. Develop skills to be the Tippe Labs site SME (Subject Matter Expert) on topics supporting Utilities and our customers. Proficient knowledge of: CEMS, Chillers & Ancillary Equipment, Air Compressors & Ancillary Equipment, Turbines, Heat Exchangers, Valves, Blowers, Pumps, Cooling Towers & Ancillary Equipment, Wells, Clarifiers & Ancillary Equipment, Softeners, Filters, Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, Boilers & Ancillary Equipment, Controls & Instrumentation, Chemical Feed Systems, Storage Tanks, etc. Manages and/or supports utilities system shutdowns. Business Assist in managing all aspects of the process (quality, safety, environmental, security, equipment, materials, etc.) to ensure customer requirements are met. Be reviewer/author of appropriate Regulus documents. Be knowledgeable of the departmental financial budget and the cost elements comprising the budget. Be cognizant of budget considerations when making day-to-day decisions. Be an advocate and champion for change initiatives which can improve current procedures, methods, processes, etc. Identify, lead, investigate, and implement changes, as necessary. Actively seek ways to improve processes, reduce costs, and make the working environment safer. Primary contact for operational troubleshooting issues and can independently trouble shoot and resolve most routine problems, elevating issues when appropriate to the next level Facilitate the documentation and resolution of events with focus on implementing corrective/preventive actions to prevent recurrence. Serve as lead investigator, change owner, and procedure/training subject matter expert as needed. Be diligent in completing assigned activities (e.g., investigations, event actions, change implementation steps, PHA actions) on time. Work with Process and Plant Engineers, maintenance personnel and contractors to complete a variety of project and maintenance tasks. Communicate in a thoughtful and productive manner that in coordination of maintenance activities in the department, driving implementation and ensuring area readiness through communication with Area Operators Provide Approver level LTT for of equipment for maintenance activities in assigned areas of expertise. Future goal of approver for all utilities area. Identify, create as needed, and implement SAP PMs for equipment that is lacking PM's today. Plant Engineering will be a partner in this effort. Documents work with post corrective maintenance forms when needed. Understands and complies with plant safety policies with regards to daily safety practices Promotes and improves functional relationships. Build operational plans with details on how scheduled work is coordinated, so that future Specialist can review and execute the work with minimal effort. Document work appropriately and according to any procedural requirements including updating communication report. Summarize observations and activities both verbally and in writing when appropriate. Exhibit the mindset that "failure is not an option." Lead by example. Quality Everyone is responsible to meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to their conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories. This includes but is not limited to the following: Adherence to all written instructions. Timely reporting of all deviations to supervision. Training on each activity is completed and current and that each employee understands their assigned duties. Strict documentation practices are followed to ensure that all steps of the operation are appropriately documented. Ensure to maintain the work area in a state of cleanliness and sanitation through good housekeeping practices and applying good personal health practices. Ensure the security and safety of the product through the reporting of any potential risk to supervision immediately. Ensure the safety of the personnel and product by wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) according to the operation being executed. Everyone should report any action that they believe could impact the SISPQ of any product immediately to supervision. Environmental, Safety, Health, & Security (ESHS) Adhere to ESHS programs, rules, & procedures. Assume personal accountability for individual behaviors related to ESHS activities. Have the appropriate knowledge and tools prior to performing a task. Complete all required ESHS training and remain current with applicable learning plans at all times. Report all injuries to Employee Health Services or Security and supervision within the same shift of the incident occurring. Inform direct supervision of any ESHS hazards or concerns in the workplace. Provide feedback and coaching to coworkers on both safe and unsafe behaviors and conditions. Actively participate in the ESHS management system as directed by supervision. REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma Required Technical degree a plus. Four years of applicable operations experience preferred. Proven leadership skills with emphasis in coaching/mentoring Ability to manage a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the business. Organizational skills including planning and prioritization of assignments. Proven ability to contribute to a positive, productive work environment. Proven ability to lead a group of people towards a set of common objectives. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and listening skills. Demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills. Must be computer literate and be proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAP & Microsoft Teams Required Future skill sets may include OSI-PI, Trackwise, Microsoft Project, Adept, Regulus, SharePoint, State/Federal/County reporting, Power Apps, Testify, Business Objects, and/or DeltaV (or other similar automation system).
