Your Opportunity This position will assist in a wide variety of administrative, Safety, QA and process functions to support cross-functional goals, which include accident reduction programs, regulatory compliance, and employee wellness programs. Core Responsibilities Training, assistance, and data entry: regulatory training; assist with pre-placement physicals by interpreting to help to complete forms and conducting U/A test; run monthly safety reports, and enter data for industrial safety status report. Assist with filing and maintenance of regulatory records such as; maintain MSDS sheet book, OSHA Logs, environmental permits, record/maintain all Dynameter and Audiometer testing records for the plant. Tracking data to support departments such as safety, environmental, quality assurance and operations. Utilize best management practices that promote safety, health and wellness of Smithfield employees. While doing walk-around, monitor employee compliance with wearing proper safety equipment as well as audit facility for safety violations. Conduct inspections and facility audits at the plant. Ensure contractors are following safety guidelines and that their employees are wearing all required PPE. Manage workers compensation issues including claims, appointments and treatment. Communicate with local medical institutions to ensure proper case management of employee issues. Act as communications liaison between the various safety committees. Monitor compliance with meeting requirements and type and post team meeting minutes. Required to be an active member on one of the safety task groups. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 1+ years of related experience preferred. Associates degree, preferred. EMT Certification, preferred. First Aid/CPR Instructor Certificate. Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Internet software, Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Bilingual, preferred. Must have knowledge of OSHA 501. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
