KPC Pipeline, LLC (KPC), a subsidiary of MVP Holdings, LLC, owns and operates a 1,120 mile interstate gas pipeline which transports natural gas from Oklahoma and Kansas to metropolitan Wichita, Kansas City and interconnecting pipeline markets. The KPC system includes three compressor stations with a total of 14,680 horsepower and has a capacity of approximately 160 MMcf/day. KPC has bidirectional interconnections with Enogex and Panhandle Eastern as well as supply interconnects with ANR Pipeline, Kansas Gas Services Transportation System. In addition, KPC can both receive gas from and deliver gas to Panhandle Eastern in its production and market zones. KPC is capable of distributing Anadarko and Arkoma basin gas into the Midwest and throughout Kansas, as well as accessing Oklahoma markets via Enogex. KPC is one of just a few pipelines that can facilitate north/south gas deliveries between various supply and market regions in the U.S.


We are currently looking for a Pipeline Technician to join our team in El Dorado, KS. This position is responsible for the day-to-day natural gas operations to optimize throughput, while also ensuring safety for the public, employees, assets, and the environment. Our ideal candidate will be organized, detailed, and a disciplined self-starter who can work independently while also working cohesively towards the team objectives.


Essential Functions


• Monitor and control process variables, such as pressure, temperature, and flow rates.


• Work on high pressure natural gas pipelines.


• Complete lines locates and meet with landowners in coverage area.


• Assist with pipeline operation including pigging, valve maintenance, and other pipeline duties.


• Identify and report safety and environmental concerns.


• Complete appropriate compliance documentation.


• Maintain integrity of the assets by overseeing equipment performance and maintenance, right of way patrolling and maintenance, monitoring pipeline pressures and volumes to ensure safety and maximum profits.


Other Functions


• Complete other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned by management.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


• Knowledge of pipeline and compressor station operations.


• Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.


• Knowledge of gas measurement.


• Ability to obtain and maintain all certifications for Operator Qualifications, Safety, and any other regulatory requirements.


• Basic knowledge of minor mechanical tools and repairs.


• Intermediate verbal and written communications skills.


• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals).


• Competent computer skills including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, etc) and industry related software.


• Knowledge of operating costs associated with the equipment in area of responsibility.


• Ability to gain knowledge and stay abreast of company policies, company practices, and regulatory requirements.


• Ability to critically evaluate complex situations and make decisions.




Education, Certifications, License


• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.


• Requires a valid Driver's License.


Work Experience


• Experience at analyzing, adjusting, and making minor repairs on compressor engines and associated equipment, preferred.


• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and diagrams, preferred.


Physical Requirements


• Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use arms, legs, and moving the whole body.


• to walk, climb, stoop, reach, crawl, crouch, stand and kneel for an extensive amount of time.


• Ability to grasp and use hand tools and reach with hands and arms.


• Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 lbs. frequently.


• Must be able to work in extreme temperature due to weather conditions and operating conditions.


• Ability to frequently travel to field sites.


• Ability to periodically travel for extended periods of time.


• Ability to be available for responding to emergency situations after work hours, nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
