POSITION SUMMARY The Pipefitter must work safely and productively on various sized Industrial project sites. A successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the essential duties of the Pipefitter position. All employees are expected to communicate, build relationships with other team members, and always use good judgment. The Pipefitter is expected to have the ability to perform all duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path, while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Assist with development and implementation of pre-task safety plans. Determine materials needed. Identify & correct safety hazards. Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, and threading joints. Fasten pipes to walls, structures and fixtures using brackets, clamps, tools, and welding equipment. Cut and bore holes in structures with hand / power tools prior to pipe installation. Cut, thread, and hammer pipe using saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders and benders. Determine the tools and equipment needed. Inspect and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods. Inspect work sites for obstructions. Install automatic controls used to regulate pipe systems. Install equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications. Layout full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, and related equipment. Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading. Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings and related machines and equipment with hand / power tools. Operate lifting equipment (i.e., aerial lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, etc.) Select pipe sizes / types and related materials (i.e., supports, hangers, hydraulic cylinders, etc.) according to specifications. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or equivalent Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Basic level communication (Reading, writing & comprehending technical documents, safety regulations, responding to questions from managers / coworkers, checklists, etc.) Safety awareness (Ability to recognize and correct safety hazards) Ability to create lift plans. Analyzing & interpreting construction documents & other technical documents Basic level mathematics (Order of operations using fractions and decimals) Entry level reasoning (Ability to know one's own skill level and stay safe while executing one or two step instructions, while dealing with no variables) Entry level planning / organizing (Ability to plan a daily work schedule and communicate the daily objectives to coworkers while organizing tasks by priority to meet deadlines) Working Conditions Traveling by land or air & staying out of town overnight Adjusting focus of eyes to bring an object into sharp focus. Climbing and balancing Exposure to air contamination (i.e., dust, fume, smoke, toxic conditions, disagreeable odors, etc.) Exposure to moderate noise levels Exposure to working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (i.e., on ladders, rooftops, bucket trucks, scaffolding, etc.) Using depth perception to judge distances and spatial relationships. Heavy physical activity performing strenuous work activities. Kneeling, bending, or crawling. Lifting, carrying, and moving up to 90 lbs. Moderate physical activity performing strenuous work activities. Reaching with arms, grabbing / handling items and using fingers to perceive the attributes of objects and materials. Standing Talking and hearing Tasting and smelling Using peripheral vision to observe areas that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point. Using vision to clearly view and perceive objects at 20 feet or more of distance. Using vision to identify and distinguish colors. Walking Wearing personal protective equipment Working 40-60 hours per week Working at heights Working indoors in a non-conditioned space with poor ventilation Working near moving mechanical parts Working outdoors exposed to extreme temperatures & weather conditions.
