Pilot Plant Operator Naturex, Inc - Part of Givaudan Bedford Park, IL Naturex (Vegetable Juices, Inc. (VJI) has over 80 years of experience and dedication to processing premium natural vegetable flavorings. We are a fast growing, leading innovator in the food ingredient industry and are currently seeking highly motivated, hands on Pilot Plant Operator. Title: Pilot Plant Technician Location: Bedford Park, IL Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Work with bench scale and pilot scale equipment. Perform all assigned tasks including the set-up, operation, and periodic cleaning of associated process equipment. Process equipment troubleshooting and experiment data recording and collection of samples. Observe operation of machine and verify conformance of work result to specification. Detail-oriented; ability to multi-task efficiently with limited supervision following all safety policies, GMP, HACCP and SOP's. Adhere to all written operational procedures and policies (strong focus on Safety, Quality, detail and results). Provide input on experiments and make recommendations to the department Manager. Work with Maintenance to develop equipment maintenance plan. Perform process sampling and perform routine analysis. Ensure successful processing operations to meet process expectations and deliverables. Review test plans for accuracy and ensure materials are available. Execute test plans with excellence and understand the principles of the test. Ensure accurate data is collected during Pilot trials. Report any process and/or equipment deviations and deficiencies. Suggest solutions on operational problems and equipment issues as identified. Evaluate test equipment for potential new projects/processes. Manage pilot plant and R&D sample inventory. Work with cross functional teams and sharing of information. Perform pilot plant general housekeeping as needed. Provide technical support to Product Developers during plant trials. Write weekly reports/summary of events. Dimensions: High school diploma or equivalent required. BS degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field preferred. Five years' experience (preferred) Good oral and written communication skills. Basic math skills. Ability to travel (less than 10%). Attention to detail. Must be safety minded. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. Mechanical skills. Ability to stand for up to 8 hrs. /day.
