Physicist II Job Location US-NC-Charlotte Job Opening ID 90 Facility Presbyterian Medical Center Department Radiation Oncology PM Work Schedule 8:00am-5:00pm Category Radiation Oncology Job Status Full-Time Overview Physicist II Hiring Manager: Corey Clift Job Summary: Novant Health Cancer Institute-Presbyterian Medical Center is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Physicist II to complete our team of 3 Medical Physicists, 1 Chief Physicist, 1 Medical Physics Assistant, 2 Medical Physics Residents, 4 Dosimetrists, and 3 Radiation Oncologists at Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. The main center comprises two Varian TrueBeam accelerators, two CT scanners, and one Flexitron HDR afterloader in an advanced brachytherapy suite supported by anesthesia. This state-of-the-art HDR brachytherapy suite is one of the busiest in the region, offering a dynamic and exciting work environment. We use VisionRT for SGRT, and Varian Eclipse and Aria for treatment planning and Record and Verify, respectively. Special procedures at the main campus include MLC-based SRS, SBRT, T&O, Vaginal Cylinder, Prostate HDR, and TBI. The group also covers a nearby satellite, which also has a Varian TrueBeam. The ideal candidate will be ABR certified, but board-eligible applicants are encouraged to apply. They will provide medical physics services to the ACR-accredited Radiation Oncology department at both the main site and the satellite. Additionally, the candidate will play a key role in mentoring and supporting our Medical Physics Residency program, helping to train future physicists and assist with clinical projects. We are particularly interested in physicists with special skills that can complement our team, such as C or Python programming experience, expertise with Microsoft Power Platform, or experience with incident learning systems and FMEA. Experienced physicists will be given preference. Graduate degree in Medical Physics and graduated from CAMPEP accredited Medical Physics Residency Program Experience: Minimum 3 years in radiation oncology physics, required. Five years Progressive experience in radiation oncology physics, preferred. Licensure/Certification: Certification in therapeutic medical physics from American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP), required. Additional Skills (required): Generates treatment plans for patient treatments as needed. Provides mentorship to Physicist I. Understands and advises physicians and therapists on proper patient simulation setup and treatment delivery techniques. Follows necessary safety protocols to ensure safe and effective delivery of radiation treatment. Demonstrates knowledge of current best practices for quality assurance. Performs recommended quality assurance procedures to ensure the safe operation of radiation equipment. Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of equipment function and operation. Regularly assesses current processes to ensure their effectiveness and continuous quality improvement. Performs patient specific quality assurance procedures including but not limited to: -Initial treatment plan checks, IMRT/SBRT/SRS QA, In-vivo dose measurements, and activities that are required to ensure the safe delivery of radiation treatments. Provides special physics consults to radiation oncologists as needed. Performs weekly chart checks in accordance with department policies. Maintains continuing education and professional development. Responsible and accountable for:Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control. Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety. Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workspace. Proper utilization of performance (ownership, teamwork communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence.
