MD/DO - Occupational Medicine Physician

The Community - Woodlawn, MD
Woodlawn is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Baltimore County, Maryland. It is home to the headquarters of the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It is bordered by Catonsville on the south, by the Patapsco River and Howard County on the west, by Randallstown and Lochearn to the north, and by the City of Baltimore to the east. Parts of Woodlawn are sometimes informally referred to as Security, Maryland, due to the importance of the SSA's headquarters as well as nearby Security Boulevard (Maryland Route 122) and Security Square Mall.

Requirements (duties include but are not limited to)
  • Serve as consultant to management on all matters regarding occupational medicine.
  • Perform clinical evaluations at the medical office on site at SSA.
  • Evaluation of health services provided by the Health Unit with recommendations to the Safety and Health Manager for changes in or broadening of service, as appropriate.
  • Provision of consultation and advice to the staff regarding occupational health concerns arising from research projects, etc.
  • Provide medical and administrative support.
  • As requested, serve as subject matter expert to SSA community on other health issues.
Qualifications
  • Graduation with a degree of Doctor of Medicine from a U.S. or Canadian medical school listed as approved by the Council of Medical Education and Hospitals, American Medical Association in the list published for the year of the applicant's graduation; or graduation with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a medical school other than covered above (including foreign schools) provided that the physician's medical education and the medical knowledge acquired therefrom are substantially comparable and equivalent to that of graduates of approved medical schools as described above.
  • Must be board certified or board eligible in Internal, Occupational, Preventative, or Family Medicine.
  • Must have and maintain a current, permanent, and full or unrestricted license to practice medicine.
  • Must have and maintain a Department of Transportation certification to perform Commercial Driver's License medical examinations.
  • Must have at least one (1) full year of recent experience in clinical medicine so as to be able to assess employee medical complaints, advise as to whether action is needed and to make recommendations in time-off-from work and injury compensation cases.
