Position Summary The Institution Physician is responsible for providing professional medical services to persons in our care, diagnosing and treating illness and injuries and arranging for professional consultation when warranted. This position supervises, in conjunction with the Health Service Manager, the development and implementation of treatment protocols and patient flow charts. With the Health Services Manager, meets as appropriate with the Institution Warden, Supervisors of Psychological Services, Security or Medical Director in formulating medical policies, operational procedures and implementation of these policies at the unit level. This position also participates in the Quality Improvement Program and Infection Control Program and provides direct care at other institutions during vacations, illness, or emergencies, as directed. Takes on-call assignments as directed by the Bureau. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 10-51 with base pay starting from $100.90/hour to $118.78/hour. Board Certified Physicians may earn supplemental pay of up to $21.00/hr (for maximum effective wage of $139.78/hr), while those that are eligible but not yet certified may earn up to $7.00/hr (for maximum effective salary of $125.78/hr), depending on the area of certification/eligibility. Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Remote work options not available for these positions. Qualifications SPECIAL REQUIREMENT - Applicants must: Possess a current, unrestricted/unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Wisconsin Possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) number Have education or training in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another area of primary care. Candidates will also benefit from experience: Applying the theory, principles, and practices of primary care medicine. Diagnosing and treating a variety of health problems and injuries commonly seen in a primary care setting. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other personnel.
