Responsibilities

Ascension St. John is looking for a Board Certified Critical Care Intensivist for our new Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to provide critical care to patients in our new, state of the art 18 bed cardiovascular critical care intensive care unit. The unit is dedicated solely to the care of cardiovascular patients.

The Ascension St. John Heart and Vascular team provides specialized services in cardiovascular disease including an interventional program that does complex PCI and structural heart interventions, electrophysiology, heart failure, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, and all aspects of preventive cardiology.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited critical care fellowship program (Internal Medicine or Anesthesiology).
  • Board Certified in Critical Care with an unrestricted licensed to practice medicine in Oklahoma

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside colleagues in other specialties such as cardiovascular medicine, cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, electrophysiology, hospitalists, and other consultative specialties.
  • Close collaboration with all members of the care team.
  • Provide and maintain a high level of quality of care for all post-procedure patients in need of cardiac critical care services in addition to patients with acute illness related to cardiovascular disease.
  • Lead and participate in efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality outcomes.
  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital. As currently constructed, the critical care program is a primary consultative program but may evolve programmatically.
