The Opportunity

The well-rounded Acute Care Acute Rehab Physical Therapy team at Central Maine Medical Center is growing.

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) follows the outlined plan of care designated by the Physical Therapist.

This is a Per Diem position that makes a direct positive impact on the Central Maine community by providing one-on-one physical therapy services to patients of all ages.

What You'll Do

  • Provides treatment and instruction to patients according to acceptable principles and practices of Physical Therapy.

  • Collaborates as a member of the health care team for the provision of comprehensive patient care.

  • Consistent with training and competency review, provides care to newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

  • Responsible for administering physical therapy modalities and treatment as supervised by the staff physical therapist.

  • The PTA assists with the restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability.

  • Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.

  • Ability to meet current documentation standards and policies in a timely fashion and with legible handwriting.

  • Strong written and verbal skills.

  • Basic computer skills.

Requirements and Qualifications for the Position

  • Holds current license as a Physical Therapy Assistant.

  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required.

  • For a therapist providing clinical coverage of the Community Re-Integration program then the must possess a current Maine Driver's License with no court-imposed restrictions. A records check will include the Department of Motor Vehicle Files.

  • This CMHC position must meet the criteria for evaluating vehicle operator suitability. It has been determined that this position requires either the operation of a system or leased vehicle of the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes on a regular basis as an integral part of the job.
