Pharmacy Technician Trainee (Non-Sterile Compounding)

Join our team as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee specializing in Non-Sterile Compounding, and become an essential part of our mission to deliver top-notch veterinary medications while ensuring the well-being of animals. Under the guidance of our managing pharmacist, you'll work in a cutting-edge compounding facility, meticulously preparing non-sterile medications in compliance with pharmacy regulations and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Learn and apply company SOPs under pharmacist supervision, focusing on compounding various non-sterile medications.
  • Ensure compliance with pharmacy laws, federal regulations, and USP standards in medication preparation and handling.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards, including proper hand hygiene and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Prepare compounded medications according to master formula records with attention to detail and quality.
  • Uphold good compounding practices to prevent contamination and maintain potency.
  • Maintain cleanliness of compounding area, equipment, and tools as per regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of compounded medications, ingredients, and inventory.
  • Monitor and replenish compounding supplies as necessary.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline workflow and meet compounding demands.
  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality consistently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably 6 months or more experience in pharmacy; compounding experience is advantageous.
  • Pharmacy Technician license or registration required; technician trainee license may be acceptable.
  • Must obtain national pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) within 6 months of hire.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to follow SOPs and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Proficiency in routine compounding tasks.
  • Familiarity with veterinary medications and compounding requirements preferred.
  • Competence in using compounding equipment and software systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and maintaining a safe work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to read reports and computer screens, communicate effectively, and operate equipment.
  • Work in an environment with hazardous chemicals and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform tasks requiring finger dexterity and fine motor skills.
  • Adhere to PPE standards and hygiene requirements.
