That means we practice world-class pediatric medicine to treat the symptoms but we also train parents and caregivers to provide a high-level of care at home so patients continue to progress after discharge "Care Beyond the Bedside" means that our kids receive their therapies and rehab away from their rooms and out of their beds as much as 70% of the day. The rest of the time, they are playing just being kids in our state of the art facility designed to inspire children. JOB SUMMARY: As an integral member of the pharmacy team, the pharmacy student intern, under supervision and work direction of the pharmacist helps prepare and distribute medications to patients within the hospital. Student interns are responsible for filling patients' orders, medication stock, ancillary department supplies, and unit dose medication bins for final verification by the pharmacist. Student interns also participate in researching drug therapies, searching for drug information, retrospective reviews, and literature searches, as well as additional tasks to the level of their current education. The ideal candidate for this role is a 2027 or later graduate. Blood Borne Pathogen Exposure: No DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in medication preparation and delivery (35%) Under supervision of the pharmacist, fills patient medication orders. Assists the pharmacist in medication preparation of sterile and non-sterile compounds, labeling, prepackaging, unit dosing and storage of medications under proper conditions of refrigeration and security. Under supervision of the pharmacist, prepares unit dose medication bins for pharmacist verification. Deliver medications to patients and nursing stations. Participate in pharmacy operations (35%) Assist with manage inventory of medications and pharmacy supplies in the hospital, Provide required pharmacy services during hours appropriate for necessary contact with medical and nursing staff. Respond to questions or requests of medical staff, nursing, etc. when appropriate. Participate in quality improvement activities related to all aspects of drug therapy preparation. Assist with the management of medication and pharmacy supply inventory including ordering, stocking, and returns. Assist the pharmacist in managing controlled substance records, invoices, and reconciliation. Medication area inspections. Other duties as assigned. Pharmacist skill development under direct supervision (30%) P1/Fourth Year Students-in addition to above duties: Under pharmacist supervision-actively participate in retrospective reviews, adverse drug reaction reporting. P2/Fifth Year Students-in addition to above duties: Under pharmacist supervision-research drug information questions, develop wean plans, perform medication history review, and assist with discharge planning and education. P3/P4/Sixth/Seventh Year Students-in addition to above duties: Under pharmacist supervision-review patient profiles, assist with antibiotic dose monitoring, research drug therapies and make recommendations, assist with parenteral nutrition dosing and monitoring. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Currently licensed as a Pharmacy Technician or Intern Pharmacist in the state of Missouri Required: Currently enrolled in an ACPE accredited pharmacy school and must have completed a minimum of 1 year Required: Detail-oriented with strong math and organizational skills PHYSICAL DEMANDS: These include walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, pulling, pushing, standing, carrying and lifting of light loads (up to 35 lb.) as necessary.
