POSITION SUMMARY Relocation Assistance available up to $15,000 $128,000 to $192,000 annually Position Summary - The Manager for Pharmacy is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of pharmacy services at OHSU Health Hillsboro Medical Center. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: employee supervision; education and training of staff; program development; management of business and professional activities; quality assessment/improvement; maintenance of practice standards, customer service, compliance with accreditation standards and applicable laws and regulations; coordination of pharmacy services with other hospital departments, and teaching of pharmacy interns and residents. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Performed majority of the time: Manage day-to-day operations (24/7) in a cost-effective manner, delegate responsibility and authority for providing services, problem-solve issues identified by staff and internal/external stakeholders, and coordinate services in assigned areas with interdisciplinary teams. May serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). Maintain and oversee department scheduling. Responsible for executing all job duties as outlined in the pharmacist position description. Human Resource Management: Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise assigned staff, develop performance standards, and conduct performance reviews. Program Design & Development: Develop and/or redesign programs, strategies, facilities and systems for service improvement or expansion. Lean Management: Practice of Performance Excellence (OPEX) for daily management and continuous improvement. Process/Service Monitoring: Manage, coordinate/delegate, and schedule appropriate assignment of staff to meet workload demands while assuring availability of adequate resources. Regulatory & Compliance: Manage, develop, implement, and maintain necessary policies and procedures, process improvements, training, and monitoring activities to ensure clinical operations are compliant with appropriate laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Teaching: Responsible for technician, pharmacist, student, resident, provider, and other ancillary service training. Additional responsibilities depending on the area of management that has been assigned: Responsibilities may include: o Participation and possible oversight of pharmacy-led committees: Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee o Participation in Infection Control, Quality Improvement Management Committee, Committee work with our systems partners, and other relevant committees Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job: Accountability and development of policies and procedures to ensure polices are up to date and in compliance with regulations Develops workflows that are compliant with regulations Participates in disciplinary action when necessary Participates in the selection and hiring of department staff Conducts and actively participates in staff employee reviews Performs additional duties in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy Decision making and budget responsibilities (e.g. impact limited to the employee, entire unit or organization-wide): Decision making for policies, procedures, and other workflows Fiscal: Monitors expenditures against departmental budget; prepares necessary documentation for supervisor review/approval; tabulates budgetary data, calculates figures and checks for accuracy; participates in annual budget planning Assigned direct reports (not limited to the ones listed): Pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy interns and students, dieticians JOB SPECIFICATIONS JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: Required Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Oregon Preferred Master's Degree Experience: Required PGY1 residency with 2 additional years of relevant experience, PGY2 residency with 1 additional year of relevant experience, or 5 years of relevant experience Preferred Minimum of two (2) years managing pharmacy personnel Work history of involvement in leadership projects Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Required Licensed Pharmacist in the State of Oregon ACLS required within 90-days of hire Preferred Board Certification Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors: Required Accountability: Ability to establish mutual agreements that result in clear responsibility, taking personal action to accomplish an agreed result and assuming personal responsibility for the results of behavior and actions.
