Pharmacy Med History Tech Full Time Days Position Summary The individual in this position will assist in preparing, packaging, delivering, and charging of medication orders, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Position duties include the following activities: The individual in this position acts under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist, is responsible for obtaining a patient's complete medication history through communication with the patient, family, and/or other resources and documenting it in the medical record. Ability to cross train and preform pharmacy department's other technician duties, including those of Pharmacy Technician l and ll. SPECIAL SKILLS: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional periods of above average pressure. Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must have good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Excellent customer service. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with team members required. Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients being served; Must have the knowledge of brand/generic names of drugs, including over the counter medications (OTC's), and their strengths/uses, as well as knowledge of herbal/dietary supplements and their strengths/uses. Must be able to prioritize tasks in a complex work environment; be personable and well organized. Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and automated dispensing systems. THE PHARMACY TECH III FULL TIME DAYS CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE. MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent GED PREFERRED EDUCATION: Completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program or pharmacy technician experience. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of retail pharmacy experience. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred with training and experience in sterile (IV) compounding, including chemotherapy preparations. Good organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills, and basic computer skills preferred. REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Technician certification. SCHEDULE: 9AM-7PM, 7 ON 7 OFF
