Job Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Work Shift: Rotating (United States of America) Job Summary: Responsible for the overall management and operation of the retail outpatient pharmacy. Ensures the correct medications are dispensed to the correct patients in an efficient and safe manner as promised. Medication compliance monitoring, chronic disease state management, patient consultation, bedside delivery of medication and provider communications are a part of daily tasks. This position is a part of the interdisciplinary team that includes clinical pharmacists, technicians and other ancillary staff. Job Description: Essential Responsibilities: Performance of all legal required duties of a Manager of Record per state and federal regulations. Organizational objective to have qualified clinicians accountable to the organization for decisions affecting consumers. Extensive knowledge of drug information, disease state management, and legal requirements of pharmacy practices. Dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by reviewing prescriptions issued by Physician, or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy, directing pharmacy workers engaged in packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals, and answering questions and provides information to patients on drug interactions, side effects, dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals. Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs. Ensures inventory and documentation of controlled substances per laws and regulations. Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 7 Indirect Reports: None Assists in planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Doctoral degree in Pharmacy preferred. Current unrestricted Pharmacist License 5-8 years related work experience required in the outpatient/retail setting and 3-5 years supervisory/management experience required Understanding of insurance and adjudication processes. Working knowledge of inventory processes. Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in specialty pharmacy. Pharmacy management experience. 340B Pharmacy and Med to Bed experience. Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring, requiring staff input, innovative, creative, and Lean diagnostic techniques to resolve issues. Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and priorities for functional area. May make recommendations for department policies, practices and programs. Manager or Director provides broad guidance and overall direction. Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers. Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers. Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations. Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments. Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner. Physical Nature of the Job: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
